What is Registered Massage Therapy (RMT)?
Registered Massage Therapy (RMT) is a regulated health profession in Ontario, performed by practitioners licensed by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO). RMTs are trained to assess and treat soft tissue and musculoskeletal conditions using a range of manual techniques that promote healing, improve mobility, relieve pain, and reduce stress.
Many extended health insurance plans cover RMT treatments. After each session, a receipt is provided that can be submitted for reimbursement. To ensure quality and safety, you can verify a therapist’s registration status through the CMTO’s public register.
